Brenda Velasquez

Brenda Velasquez was born in Southern California, her parents having emigrated from Central America (El Salvador and Nicaragua). She graduated from the University of Denver in 2014 with a B.A. in Journalism Studies and a minor in French.
Throughout college, she held a leadership position in a student-volunteer program helping Denver metro youth gain access to higher education. She also interned as a Staff Writer for Asian Avenue Magazine, spotlighting various Asian-American communities in Denver.

After graduation, Ms. Velasquez worked as a clerk in her local public library where she served a high percentage of minority and immigrant populations. As a Paralegal at the Joseph Law Firm, she now enjoys the daily opportunity to deepen her commitment to these diverse communities by facilitating their personal journeys through the immigration process.
